SAMmy’s (Strength Among Moms Ministry)
started out as a desire in the heart of
Pennie Bixler, a mother of two. She had just
moved to a new town and craved social,
mental, emotional and spiritual support that
went beyond church, lectures and her life as
a stay-at-home mom. Pennie began to talk to
other moms who shared the
same dilemma. Pennie prayed about the
plans God had and she felt as though He told
her that SAMmy’s was going to be bigger than
she could ever imagine.
She gathered four women and they met in her home, studying God’s Word through studies Pennie had written, praying for each other and giving each other much needed support. News of the group spread, and by word of mouth only, SAMmy’s soon grew from four women to forty! Pennie started writing the curriculum and training leaders as SAMmy’s spread to neighboring towns.
God has given Pennie a vision to take SAMmy’s to the moms of this nation, and beyond. At the present time, SAMmy’s operates in several different Midwest cities, but plans on expanding this territory as the Lord allows

THE SAMMY’S DIFFERENCE
SAMmy’s is unlike any other women’s Bible study group out there. Here are some basic identifying principles about our SAMmy’s Charter Program.- SAMmy’s Charter groups partner with a local church to reach the community of moms in their area.
- The studies that are taught to the large group are very comprehensive, even if the mother is unfamiliar with God’s Word, yet the basic Truths are challenging enough to motivate the seasoned Christian to become more Christ-like.
- While most Bible studies aimed at mothers focus on mothering alone, SAMmy’s also addresses a mom’s much larger circle of influence and challenges her to impact her corner of the world.
- The Leader’s Guide for each study walks the Director through the presentation of the Bible study material, ensuring that the message is delivered accurately, yet with her own personal stories intertwined to make it interesting and giving the Director unique ministering opportunities with her group.
- The Leader’s Guide encourages small group leaders to put their own spin on the material and ask in-depth questions and creative applications to challenge each group. There are also discussion questions that may be used to spark small group discussion, in the event that the small group leader should need them.
- The Starter Kit, Studies and Leaders Guides will provide a Director with the guidance she needs to successfully launch and maintain a successful SAMmy’s Charter group. The materials are filled with ideas to help the moms in your SAMmy’s group grow in their relationship with Christ.
- The “SAMmy’s Summer Challenge” allows the word about your SAMmy’s Charter to grow year after year by asking current SAMmy’s participants to pray for three mom friends throughout the summer, and in the fall invite them to the SAMmy’s Kick-Off Brunch.
- SAMmy’s Charter Directors are encouraged to support each other with ideas, prayer, sharing praises and discipleship through the SAMmy’s Leadership Bulletin Board found on our website. (Password Protected)
- The staff of SAMmy’s, Inc. is available for support and encouragement every step of the way to help you build a group of moms of all ages that are excited about living for Christ!
